If you've already given the trailer above a spin, feel free to have a read through this description of what to expect:īob and Penny are two rookie magicians stuck between dimensions who will have to face numerous dangers in order to retrieve the pages of the Magic Book and be able to return home safely. The game is being developed by Xixo Games Studio, a small, two-person team who are fans of Cuphead, and will soon be plonked on Kickstarter in a bid to raise funds and get it on Switch. (Well, sort of two of them).Įnchanted Portals is a new co-op platformer/shooter that will look very familiar to fans of StudioMDHR's famous release. Long as EP tries to diversify the gameplay a bit so it can stand out a bit more, I don't have any problems with it.We never thought we'd see the previously Microsoft-exclusive Cuphead on a Nintendo platform, but soon there might well be two of them. Ever seen Sliders or read Exiles? Something like that. Hence the title there and all the weirdness they encounter. So, hey, more power to Hashil: Actually I think the theme is that the portals are sending the two kids through various dimensions and/or time periods. The creators of EP pretty much know what they want and what they were getting into when they announced it. At the end of the day it's just another (albeit extremely fun) run and gun game. People are just complaining because of the fact there hasn't been a 2D run and gun in a long while and think Cuphead broke the mold It's unique in it's style, but really that's about it. Heck Cuphead itself is taking cues from Contra and Metal Slug for their gameplay too. Plus you know how it goes when something is popular, you're going to have followers. I'm not complaining, I like the designs and it looks cute enough. I agree with Jim, it's glening from Cuphead's style when it comes to gameplay and animation choice, but that aside, the vibe is all it's own and going for a more fantasy feel then a old school toon throwback in the form of a shooter. Hence why they started up a kickstarter in the first place to make it look better. Well you gotta keep in mind that these are early concept builds, not the final product. That said, I think the game still looks really good, and I'm excited for it.Įdited by DrNoPuma on Oct 22nd 2019 at 1:22:44 PMĬampfire Cat Cafe & Snack Bar is a good mobile game. Of course, other games get their styles ripped off all the time, and people don't complain like they have for this one. Also, it's hard to tell from the trailer, but it looks as if the gameplay has some subtle differences from Cuphead too (for example, when the boy gets hit with a hammer, instead of taking damage, he seemingly just gets squashed down for a few seconds.) It's a shame that they couldn't have strayed from Cuphead's style a little more, but I don't think it's fair to call it a complete ripoff. So many creative ideas went into this game. While the game does seem to use a similar Boss Game format and art style, the worlds, the characters, and the plotline are very different from those in Cuphead. It borrows the gameplay style, and the art and seemingly the music in its aesthetic too. The game has come under fire for seemingly being a ripoff of Cuphead.
